There are two essential and recognisable elements manifest in the work of David Tress – firstly the symbiosis of raw nature, weather and beauty in our incredibly rich British landscape; secondly the evidence of the manner in which David's works are wrought.
His highly intense, physical use of paint, pencil and paper together with an urgency of execution combine to produce extraordinarily fresh and vital results, a direct consequence of an artist who gets out into the raw elements, covering the ground and keenly observing.
He has been the sunject of many reviews in papers and journals such as the Telegraph, The Times, The Independent and The Spectator, as well as being featured in films made for the BBC and HTV. He has received many awards, and his work is held in many public and private collections, including Clare College, Cambridge, The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and The Guildhall Gallery, City of London.
